At IPCO, no two jobs are ever the same, and that’s exactly how we like it.

Our projects range from quick service calls that take an hour to complex facility upgrades that take more than a year to complete. Whether we’re replacing light fixtures in a commercial building or powering up a new wastewater treatment plant, the goal is the same: deliver high-quality electrical work that’s built to last. We aim to make the process as seamless as possible for our clients by communicating clearly, staying flexible, and solving problems as they arise. We take pride in building trust in every job so our clients feel confident coming back to us for the next one.

So, what exactly does IPCO do? According to Superintendent Chris Widerman, “We do a little bit of everything”

Showing Up For Our Clients

Let’s start with the basics. For long-time IPCO clients, we’re always just a call away. Whether it’s fixing lights, troubleshooting a panel, or installing an outlet, we handle service calls that help our partners stay up and running. These jobs may be quick and task-specific, but they’re an essential part of maintaining strong, ongoing relationships with our clients.

Industrial Electrical Work

On the industrial side, IPCO handles plant upfits, process improvements, and major facility expansions. “A lot of what we do is help clients multiply their production capacity,” Chris explains. “Whether that’s adding on to a plant or upgrading their systems, we’re helping them do more with the space they have.” That often includes installing new electrical infrastructure to support specialized equipment, integrating backup power systems, or reworking the layout of a facility to streamline operations. “We’ve worked with manufacturers who completely outgrew their original space. It’s our job to help them expand safely and efficiently—without shutting down their current production,” Chris adds.

Municipal Projects

Roughly half of IPCO’s team works on municipal projects, including water treatment facilities, water towers, and infrastructure upgrades. These projects are complex, long-term commitments that require close coordination with general contractors and government entities. When it comes to water towers specifically, IPCO handles the electrical work required to support pumps, lighting, control panels, and backup power. This ensures the towers function safely and reliably—especially during emergency scenarios when uninterrupted water access is critical.

Generator & Backup Power

During hurricane season and other severe weather events, the demand for reliable generator systems rises, especially among municipal and industrial clients. At IPCO, we install large-scale backup power systems that help keep essential infrastructure like water treatment plants up and running when the grid goes down. These generators aren’t just about keeping the lights on, they ensure communities maintain access to clean water and sanitation. In emergency situations, something as simple as being able to flush a toilet or wash your hands becomes critical. Our generator work helps ensure essential operations like water and sanitation continue during emergencies.

Working as a Team

No matter the job, leadership is a central value at IPCO. Chris leads job sites with multiple team members. He sees leadership not as a top-down directive, but as something shared across the entire team. “I don’t know everything,” he says. “I want people to speak up and lead too.”

This mindset ties into a broader leadership philosophy at IPCO: decentralized command. “We’re a mobile command center,” Chris says. “We’re trusted to make decisions without being micromanaged. That’s something IPCO really pushes, and it makes a difference in how we work.”

After more than seven years with IPCO, Chris says his career switch was worth it. “ My quality of life is better than it’s ever been.” It’s a sentiment we hear often. IPCO values the work we do, and the people who do it.
